Welcome to Lynx Works!
I'm an Avionics technician in my mid-thirties. A keen runner, I like being outdoors but also enjoy learning and have been an Open University student since 2008. Having been interested in computing since I was a kid, my study goal is a BSc (Honours) Computing and IT (B62).
Aside from programming (I'm working my way through Project Euler at the moment), I'm interested in Open Source Software. Having used Linux since 1995 (Slackware 3.0), I used Ubuntu for a number of years. I have worked on the Documentation Team for some years, especially in networking, internet and switching. I developed the team logo and the beginners playbook. I was lucky enough to get Ubuntu membership but left the team a couple of years ago.
I run daily, mainly for distance (I can’t recommend Bob Glover’s Runners Handbook highly enough). I have started training to run a marathon and will post more on this once I get a confirmed place. You can follow me on Dailymile - please do.
Enjoying video games since I was a kid, I play a lot of CoD and Red Dead Redemption although I'm working through the Assassin's Creed games just now - I'm DougieWougie on PSN. I read a lot, Kindle has encouraged that recently - Lian Hearn, Irvine Welsh, Ryu Murakami and Bret Easton Ellis as well as the much maligned, under-rated Stephen King (who inspired my wife's nickname). I've also sketched for years, I like pencil and really must put some scans up here one day - perhaps I'll get around to it tomorrow (the procrastinator's mantra).
